WASA Introduction

The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) is dedicated to ensuring the provision of safe and ample drinking water while effectively treating sewage to meet required standards. WASA History

WASA’s establishment and development can be traced back to the requirements of the ADB Loan No. 1260-PAK (SF) for the “Urban Water Supply & Sanitation Project.” Its responsibility included assuming control over infrastructure created through the loan by the loan closing date in August 1992. Key milestones in its history include:

July 1st, 1996: Takeover of Filtration Plant and Conductance Main from PHED.
Takeover of Water Supply and Sewerage system from the Defunct Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (Now Tehsil Municipal Administration).
April 1st, 1998: WASA fully established and operational.
